Friends of the Ukrainian Folklore Centre Dance Award
To fulfill the mandate of the Friends of the Ukrainian Folklore Centre (FUFC) to promote Ukrainian ethnology through the study of arts, customs, beliefs, and other traditions. This award will provide five students with the opportunity to pursue advanced education, at the post-secondary level, in Ukrainian dance theory and history.
Value: $1000 (maximum of 5 annually)
Conditions & Eligibility Criteria: Scholarships are available to grade 12 graduating students and current University of Alberta undergraduate students. Scholarships will be awarded to a maximum of five individuals annually based on superior Ukrainian dance potential.
Ukrainian dance potential will be evaluated based on the criteria outline within the application form and includes dance history, submitted dance video and written essay.
Awardees must enroll in the Ukrainian Dance course within 36-months of receiving their award certificate and must provide the FUFC with proof of course completion before the monetary portion of the award will be issued. This award will be issued once per year.
Awardees will not receive the Friends of the Ukrainian Folklore Centre Student Award simultaneously with this award.
Selection Process & Award Receipt: The FUFC Award Committee, consisting of members of the board of directors of the Friends of the Kule Folklore Centre, will review all applications and choose the successful scholarship recipients based the criteria of dance history, a video submission and a written essay. Recipients will receive written notification of the outcome of their application approximately six-weeks after the application deadline.
Payment Process: Award is to be used to offset tuition fees. After the completion of the course, it is the student’s responsibility to submit proof of completion of the course to the Friends of the Ukrainian Folklore Centre. Students will only receive the monetary portion of this award after the successful completion of the course and the submission of course completion documents.
Application Procedures: Students must submit an application form by the deadline to be eligible. The application deadline is April 8, 2016.

Applicants will receive an email confirming the receipt of their application form. The receipt of application does not guarantee granting of the award.
